  • Extraordinary Reason

The 16th century Portuguese doctor Leão Hebreu coined the expression Extraordinary Reason to identify the basic human instinct of compassion, and justify the need for universal health care. I am interested in how physical contact is at the core of the medical practice, both as a device for diagnosis and healing, and as an embodied dispensation of care.
